Facebook readies its Game Dashboard

Great idea - This business niche has been hanging out there unfilled, if Facebook can nail it, it will be huge.

Data on the coming Facebook Credits

Can't believe facebook has waited so long on this. I can only imagine how much more they could be raking in if they had set up this system in advance of the social games boom. Still if done right there is tons of upside left.

Digg Plus StumbleUpon Equals Diggstr

I'm surprised Digg didn't do something like this long ago... there are many good ways to discover content, and this is one.

Bacteria engineered to turn carbon dioxide into liquid fuel

Makes me happy to see more and more of this technology sprouting up... Of course it's a long road from the lab to...well back to the road in this case.

Bacterial Game Theory

very interesting... I bet that the most advanced technology on Earth will be found in the computing networks of singe cells. We'll find that bacteria dealt with all the complex systems engineering issues we are just starting to grapple with, and hashed out answers in the first billion years of Life. What was going in then anyway?

The peak-oil debate: 2020 vision | The Economist

The IEA has put out a predicted date for Peak Oil, which is earlier than I would have expected them to believe. While it is nice to see them become more reasonable, it is worrisome since they represent the optimists.

Why the hammerhead shark got its hammer

Better Vision. Huh. I always assumed it has something to do with a sonar like sense, or smell.

Mathematical model of simple circuit in chicken brain raises fundamental questions about neural circuitry

This sounds pretty interesting. I'm a believer that there are simple abstraction layers that will help us to understand neural, and other biological networks. In this case, though it seems odd that several cells could be modeled as one "neuron." if one cell could do the job, it is odd that the circuit was not paired down to that. Then again, can't assume that Evolution is always so elegant.

There are Parrots in My Tree!

The "Feral Parrots of Telegraph Hill" that is. This is not to be confused with bats in my belfry. I had no idea there were feral Peruvian parrots in SF, very cool.
